A great many people have contributed in various ways to the writing of

this history of Strathkinness. Without their help the task would have been

an almost impossible one. The people of the village and others who once lived

in it have played a very important part in providing the material on which it

is based.

It has not been possible to include all the oral information given by every-

body I spoke to, but I have tried to include all the written material from those

who offered it, as the intention has always been to include what the people

of Strathkinness had to say about their own village. Many thanks are given to
