Sabbath School Excursion</DIV>

This Annual Treat to the children attending the Sabbath School came off</DIV>

July under the most favourable weather. The children met in</FONT>

the church at 10 a.m., and in a very short time were embarked in the seven</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 116pt; left: 41pt">
carts with gaily decked horses, kindly lent by 7 farmers of the congregation,</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 129pt; left: 41pt">
under the leadership of Mr. Wallace, schoolmaster, Denhead, and Mr. William</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 142pt; left: 41pt">
Reekie, who took charge of the excursion in the absence of the minister, the</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 155pt; left: 40pt">
joyful company of children with their teachers, with floating banners and</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 168pt; left: 40pt">
merry voices, passed through the village before the happy gaze of parents and</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 181pt; left: 40pt">
friends. The destination fixed upon was St. Fort, Forgan. In front of St.</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 194pt; left: 41pt">
Fort House a park had been granted for games and all sorts of amusements</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 207pt; left: 40pt">

entered into heartily by the teachers and children. A special</FONT>

feature of this year’s excursion was the singing and reciting competition. For</FONT>

singing Alexia Herd carried off the first prize, and Alexander Angus,</DIV>

Guardbridge, the second, while Jessie Brown, Knockhill, gained the prize for</DIV>

reciting. Ample provisions were supplied to the children at intervals, and they</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 271pt; left: 40pt">
returned home through Leuchars, Guardbridge and Kincaple to Strathkinness</DIV>

in the most jubilant spirits.</DIV>

The thanks of the congregation are due to the teachers who carried all the</DIV>

Flower Service</DIV>

The Children’s Annual Service was held in the Church immediately after</DIV>

the close of the forenoon service on Sabbath 22nd July. This service took the</DIV>

new form of a Flower Service. Each child was expected to bring a neat little</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 458pt; left: 41pt">
~ouquet. There were no fewer than 107 bouquets which were arranged by the</DIV>
<DIV CLASS=f52 STYLE="position:absolute; top: 471pt; left: 41pt">
teachers on a table in front of the pulpit The sight was lovely <FONT CLASS=f55>

delightful. There was a large congregation of children with their parents and</DIV>

riends. The Rev. J. Rolland McNab, Minister of the Congregation, preached</DIV>

an appropriate sermon on “Flowers”, and pointed out how much the flowers</DIV>

.vould be appreciated by those who were confined, some of them for months</DIV>

and even years, in the infirmaries. On the Monday morning two baskets of</DIV>

lowers were sent to St. Andrews Cottage Hospital, and five to Dundee</DIV>
